Creative and strategic leadership that has broken new ground for some of the world’s most iconic brands.
Be it through experiential marketing, events marketing, public relations or film & video production, Sway PR & Marketing succeeds by finding new ways to deliver memorable and meaningful stories – stories that invite consumers to partake in her clients’ brands.
Before starting her own agency, founder Kelly Olson served as Chair, Experiential Marketing Practice Group for Minneapolis-based Carmichael Lynch Spong (currently Spong PR). In her time with CLS, she became a champion of multi-disciplinary collaboration. Her clients included Maytag, Arc’teryx, CamelBak, Jack Link’s Beef Jerky and V.I.O.
Prior to CLS, Kelly spent four years as Senior Manager, Events Marketing and Publicity for Target Corporation. Responsible for strategic development and tactical implementation of integrated events marketing and publicity programs, she managed designer and brand partnerships including Luella Bartley, Proenza Schouler and Alice Temperley, and helmed numerous experiential marketing events. One of these, a first-of-its-kind holographic fashion show held in New York’s Grand Central Terminal earned more than 100 million media impressions and was universally celebrated by both the fashion and mainstream press.
Other stops in Kelly’s career include Mall of America, publicity giant Fleishman-Hillard, Inc., Buena Vista Television, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and SuperBowl XXVIII Halftime Show.
Kelly’s success in experiential marketing and public relations perhaps stems from her previous career as a producer of award-winning television. Working for legends such as Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters gave Kelly special insight when it comes to discovering the essence of a story and its potential to have real impact.
Having lived and worked in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, Kelly made her way back home to Minneapolis in 2002 where she resides with her husband and two children.
